Chemist of Berkeley have found a amazing way to make cheap plastic solar cells that are flexible enough to be painted onto any surface. These new cells are potentially able to provide enough electricity for wearable electronics or other low-power devices.

Currently the efficiency of the cells are not that good, the only convert a small portion of the suns energy into electricity, but the chemist at UC Berkeley are up for the challenge.

These new cells can be painted on to any surface, opening many new possibilities for things that can be used for solar energy. The solar cell that they created is a hybrid, comprised of tiny nanorods that are spread throughout a organic polymer, or in other words plastic.  one of the best part of this new solar cell founding is the cheap way that it is made. This also means more affordable.
